2018 Fireside Tasting

Did you make it to our Fireside Tasting?

We loved how our Members & Guests arrived rugged up for a chilly, windy night with big smiles ready to enjoy the evening.

We kicked off the evening with a some bubbles & rose. perfect accompaniments to the antipasto platters.

Michael took us through each of the wines whilst everyone relaxed and enjoyed the range.

We released the 2018 Fiano – blended by our Members at the stomp! event in February. Everyone loved the blend.

Everyone had fun.

The toasted marshmallows brought back childhood memories.

But the highlight was definitely the release of the Liqueur Muscat!

Fireside Tasting – Saturday 18th August

Rug up & join us around our outdoor fires to taste our new releases, a few sneaky 2017 & 2018 barrel samples and our warming fortifieds.
You’ll enjoy our
  • new release Stomp! Limited Release 2018 Fiano, blended by Members at our annual Stomp! 2018
  • new release Pssst ‘n’ Broke 2018 Rose
  • a sneak preview of 2017 & 18 reds so you can compare them to the famed Stomp! 2014 Shiraz
  • Tawny along side the long awaited release of our Muscat
We’ll have Charcuterie boards to share and marshmallows to toast on the fire to finish.

It’s about heart and soul…

Have you visited our new cellar door yet? Finally it’s starting to feel like home, reflecting more of our personality and even a little soul.

Did you know it has loft space upstairs? It’s wasted with just my desk up there. So, I decided to turn it into a creative retail outlet, showcasing a few of our son’s oak home wares. But as he can’t seem to keep up with demand, I’m adding a few more quirky pieces, including oak and resin jewellery and some artworks.

All home wares and jewellery are handcrafted using retired oak barrels from our winery. As mentioned, the home wares are crafted by our son and the jewellery is handcrafted by a family friend.

Each piece is bespoke, having an amazing history and story to tell – the 90 – 120 years growing; the expert barrel coopers hands lovingly crafting it into a barrel; the years of weaving magic with our winemaker; storing our gorgeous tawny port and finally the imagination it has sparked in two young men, as they creatively recycle and add to the story… Now there’s a special piece of wine country to take home.

And if recycled oak doesn’t excite you as much as it does me, check out the very cute ink and Quink ‘doodle bird’ drawings by Rowena Henderson.

This space will keep changing. Come and check it out and be inspired to take home not only wines made with passion, but perhaps a very special piece of oak barrel they’ve been in!

It’s all about the experience when you visit stomp! Wine. We love our guests leaving with great memories so we’ve created a few “Stay & Play” experiences for the family, couples and friends.

The latest addition is Stay & Play – Family Fun

Relax as we take you through our range of stomp! & Psst ‘n’ Broke Wines, the tasting will be accompanied by a local cheese and produce platter. If you’re up for, it join the kids afterwards as they challenge you to a game of giant Jenga.

Kids – Big & Small

Pop your own popcorn to energise you ready for your big photo challenge. We’ll have a list of photo challenges that will require creativity, fun, collaborations & exploring nature. Make sure you leave some time for some Giant Jenga strategising so you can beat Mum & Dad when they finish their tasting!

Complete as many of these challenges as you can and post your photo’s to Instagram – #stompwines. Your photos may even be published in our next stomp! Wines newsletter.
Posting photo’s gives stomp wines permission to repost.

  • Challenge your partner or friends with picnic games – Giant Jenga, Giant noughts and crosses, Giant Connect 4 or bocce – will be available to play. (Games only available with Stay & Play bookings)

A Stomping Great Time

March 17, 2018 Stomp - The Poeple

They came from far & wide, from Scotland, Ireland, Singapore & all parts of Australia. They celebrated birthdays and anniversaries; there were newly weds, couples, families & friends and they were great fun.

There was stiff competition between the teams.

They created team names

* Mardi Grapes
* Norfolk and Chance (didn’t quite get this until the team said it quickly, with their Scottish accent, to boot!)
* Six Vines Wines (6 people in this team)
* Silver Wino’s
* Stomped But Not Stirred

Raced to collect the grapes; crushed juice & measured ripeness & sugar levels; blended our next Fiano, with the winners writing & presenting a ditty to get them over the line.

Stomp Food & Wine

With all that “hard word”, our Winemaking apprentices enjoyed a feast prepared by Chef Matt from The Deck Cafe; of course washed down with a supply of premium stomp! wines. The setting amongst the Casuarinas was perfect.

Then the fun really began. They stomped solo, in pairs & in teams; there was slow contemplative stomping, the dancing stomp, the speed stomp and some hand squishing. Resulting in magnificent creations to wear home.

Take a fun, educational look at the life of a Winemaker at Vintage.
Join Michael & I on Saturday 3 March, 11am (for an 11.30am start) to 3.30pm.
Begin your experience measuring grape ripeness and sampling our 2018 juices & ferments.

From here we’ll be taking a look at what it takes to make the perfect blend, we’ll put your palates to the test & see if you can create our next blend.
After the hard work, in true winemaker style, we’ll relax with an alfresco lunch prepared by Chef Matt Dillow, live tunes by Mark Henderson & a glass (or two) of wine.
Of course, no Vintage experience would be complete without some training in the art of pigeage or foot stomping. So, after lunch, we’ll provide ripe, juicy grapes for you to practice.

Dress – enclosed flat shoes (you’ll be outside), casual clothing (nothing too good, it will get dirty, particularly if you intend to practice your foot stomping), hat & sunscreen.

Our Winemaker’s Cottage at Broke is available – with a 30 minute drive – or there are some great options at the nearby The Vintage with Chateau Elan, Mercure Apartments and The Vintage Holiday Houses.

Trophy Bling…

Currently in it’s 29th year the Hunter Valley Boutique Winemakers Show is firmly established as one of Australia’s benchmark, regional wine shows for small producers. With both Hunter Valley wines and this show having such significant reputations we are always excited to enter our wines and have them judged by our peers.  It’s great to have unbiased feedback on our wines.

The results of this show were announced last week and we are thrilled to tell you, after an intensive week of judging, lead by Chief Judge, Keith Tulloch, Stomp received the following trophy and medals:

Having a favourite wine is a little like having a favourite child… but, I must admit stomp! Verdelho has always been one of my favourites.  It’s always a winner in my books!


Ready, set… grab your Moscato!

With great excitement we finally announce the release of our Moscato.

Joining our stomp! range it  retails at $25/bottle or $21 to members.

Made from Muscat grapes this playful Moscato will easily make friends in all circles. With its gentle cascade of bubbles, it’s fun, festive and full of sweet flavour – Turkish delight, musk sticks and fairy floss.

This gorgeous pink bubbly is versatility itself – standing capably as an aperitif at your next dinner party, cheekily starting your party, making your  brunch unforgettable or complimenting your favorite sneaky confections.

Intended to be consumed young, fresh and vibrant our Moscato needs to be served well chilled. It’s so easy going it doesn’t need food. Just grab your partner by the hand, shake off your shoes, walk through the fresh, soft grass whilst the sun gently caresses your skin, sit and sip. Springtime perfection right there! But it’s also downright delicious when paired with apple desserts, fresh berries, meringues and cakes. Or try it with spicy Asian fare, cheese, antipasto or charcuterie.

Spring in a bottle!

Nothing says spring better than a fresh, zesty, ice-cold (go on break the rules), white wine.  So how excited are we to introduce two new release wines – stomp! Limited release 2017 Sauvignon Blanc and stomp! 2017 Verdelho. Both here just in time for our glorious Spring weather.

Our Sauvignon Blanc is a limited release with only 200 cases made. This fine example of cool climate, high altitude fruit from Orange has produced a wine with enticing aromas of passionfruit, pineapple, guava and hints of grapefruit. The palate is tasty, lively, long and dry. It compliments soft cheeses, seafood, Greek or Mexican cuisine. Best consumed now or with short term cellaring.

Our 2017 Verdelho has aromas of honeydew melon and passionfruit, with a refreshing, zesty palate displaying ripe tropical fruits and citrus characters. It is very enjoyable on its own, but shines when paired with Asian inspired flavours.

So who’s ready for Spring? Have we got your mouth watering, sunglasses on and a day basking in the sunshine planned?
