Trophy Bling…

September 20, 2017

Currently in it’s 29th year the Hunter Valley Boutique Winemakers Show is firmly established as one of Australia’s benchmark, regional wine shows for small producers. With both Hunter Valley wines and this show having such significant reputations we are always excited to enter our wines and have them judged by our peers.  It’s great to have unbiased feedback on our wines.

The results of this show were announced last week and we are thrilled to tell you, after an intensive week of judging, lead by Chief Judge, Keith Tulloch, Stomp received the following trophy and medals:

Trophy & Gold Medal
stomp! 2017 Verdelho

Silver Medal
Pssst ‘n’ Broke 2016 Verdelho
stomp! 2016 Fiano

Having a favourite wine is a little like having a favourite child… but, I must admit stomp! Verdelho has always been one of my favourites.  It’s always a winner in my books!

Ready, set… grab your Moscato!

September 14, 2017

With great excitement we finally announce the release of our Moscato.

Joining our stomp! range it  retails at $25/bottle or $21 to members.

Made from Muscat grapes this playful Moscato will easily make friends in all circles. With its gentle cascade of bubbles, it’s fun, festive and full of sweet flavour – Turkish delight, musk sticks and fairy floss.

This gorgeous pink bubbly is versatility itself – standing capably as an aperitif at your next dinner party, cheekily starting your party, making your  brunch unforgettable or complimenting your favorite sneaky confections.

Intended to be consumed young, fresh and vibrant our Moscato needs to be served well chilled. It’s so easy going it doesn’t need food. Just grab your partner by the hand, shake off your shoes, walk through the fresh, soft grass whilst the sun gently caresses your skin, sit and sip. Springtime perfection right there! But it’s also downright delicious when paired with apple desserts, fresh berries, meringues and cakes. Or try it with spicy Asian fare, cheese, antipasto or charcuterie.

Spring in a bottle!

September 6, 2017

Nothing says spring better than a fresh, zesty, ice-cold (go on break the rules), white wine.  So how excited are we to introduce two new release wines – stomp! Limited release 2017 Sauvignon Blanc and stomp! 2017 Verdelho. Both here just in time for our glorious Spring weather.

Our Sauvignon Blanc is a limited release with only 200 cases made. This fine example of cool climate, high altitude fruit from Orange has produced a wine with enticing aromas of passionfruit, pineapple, guava and hints of grapefruit. The palate is tasty, lively, long and dry. It compliments soft cheeses, seafood, Greek or Mexican cuisine. Best consumed now or with short term cellaring.

Our 2017 Verdelho has aromas of honeydew melon and passionfruit, with a refreshing, zesty palate displaying ripe tropical fruits and citrus characters. It is very enjoyable on its own, but shines when paired with Asian inspired flavours.

So who’s ready for Spring? Have we got your mouth watering, sunglasses on and a day basking in the sunshine planned?

NB: Our Sauvignon Blanc is still to go onto the website. In the meantime email me for orders. It’s that easy!

Change is Afoot…

August 22, 2017

Change is afoot – we’re moving to Lovedale in 2018.

For nearly seven years we’ve had a wonderful relationship with Tinonee Vineyard. It has provided a fantastic base for our humble cellar door. We’ve had so much fun on this magnificent property. We’ve loved every minute of welcoming everyone to share our gorgeous wines and striking views of Yellowrock.

However, as the old saying goes, “all good things must come to an end”, and with the change of hands of this property, our tenure is coming to a close. This weekend will be the last weekend we are operating our cellar from this location. Make sure you come and see us and say your goodbyes to our teeny cellar.

But the goodbyes are only temporary. It’s onwards and upwards from here… and like ducks on the dam, our feet are paddling madly under the surface – so much to do! Hopefully we won’t keep you waiting too long to announce our new cellar location and opening date. We can tell you it’s in Lovedale and we can’t wait to open our doors. There may even be accommodation you can stay in. Now that would be handy for the new, exciting events we’re planning!

We know you’ll enjoy visiting us at this convenient location. We just need you to be patient whilst we’re organising the final details, but we’ll share its top secret location as soon as we’re able.

In the meantime, you never know where you’ll find us. We’ll be popping up in various locations – gives us the opportunity to come and see you, check new spaces and introduce you to some of our wine friends.

Events/places you’ll definitely find us include:

Sydney Wine Festival – 14 & 15 October, Rosehill Racecourse

Vino Paradiso – 18 & 19 November, The Rocks, Sydney

Private Tastings – 891 Milbrodale Road, Broke

For other events and where to find us make sure you you follow us on Facebook or Instagram and check our website before you visit.

If in doubt you know you can contact me directly for your wines.

Here’s cheers to our exciting new journey. Make sure you follow us… it’s going to be a fun ride as we continue to….

live it… love it… stomp!

A Little Bit of Italy in Broke

May 24, 2017

What a wonderful weekend at this year’s Little Bit of Italy in Broke. The weather was perfect, the food scrumptious and the company was superb!

Our thanks to Mamma’s Kitchen and the Local Coffeeman for keeping us fuelled; to all our scarecrow entrants and judges; to our muso, Mark Henderson and to everyone who came and kept us company. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Until we do it all again in 2018…ciao bella!

Stomp 2017 – can’t wait till next year’s…

March 19, 2017

What a wonderful day.

The rain held off whilst we

tasted the berries and their ferments,

created, and had lots of fun.

Our apprentices graduated with flying colours and can’t wait to come back and help out again next year and live it… love it… stomp!

Don’t miss out on your apprenticeship!

February 21, 2017

Vintage is a tricky time of year – so much excitement; stress and sheer exhaustion from the physical nature of winemaking. But as winemakers it’s our time, our gig!

And this year we thought it about time we shared our gig with you. Hence you’re invited to our Stomp 2017. Join us to learn what your favourite winemaking team is doing.

Join us at Stomp 2017, March 4, 12noon and we’ll take a wander through the vineyard as we discuss how we decide when to harvest. We’ll let you get hands on and visually inspect, test and taste some fruit. Yep, you get to hand squish some grapes and use a refractometer and hydrometer to measure sugar content and tell us if the fruit is ready. Don’t worry we’ll provide a bit of tuition along the way as we discuss the parameters we need to craft the wines you love.

Whilst we’re in the vineyard we’ll discuss how we pick and what’s happening in the winery right now. You’ll be the first to taste some of Vintage 2017’s ferments.

Vintage being our busiest time of year, we are always checking in on our mates. Does the truck driver need a coffee re-fill, does the winemaker need lunch, is the cellar hand okay in the press? It’s all hands on deck as we share the work load and look after one another.

So, in true vintage style, we’ll ensure you’re well fed and watered as we share Matt Dillow’s amazing feast with some of our latest wines. We’d love to hear your feedback on our new releases – Stomp! Limited Release 2016 Fiano and Stomp! 2015 Shiraz and, of course, some of our old favourites, too.

To work off your lunch (we will be cracking the whip!) you may wish to practice the art of pigeage or grape stomping – ‘cause we all know there’s something about getting dirty that attracts us all! You haven’t truly experienced vintage until you get completely sticky. Dirty, sticky and tired your apprenticeship is complete!

Now all we need to do is stock your car with some fantastic wine specials and a little gift from us and you can find your way home to relax.

Oh yer, one more thing, when you get home… wash your clothes. Vintage is also about never ending sticky clothes to wash…

Places must be booked by this Friday 24th February
Phone Meredith 0409 774 280
Cost $70 members (plus four guests allowed at this special price), $78 non members

Stomp 2017 – March 4th

January 13, 2017

When are grapes ready for harvest?
Is mechanical or hand harvest best?
What do freshly crushed juices and ferments taste like?
How do grapes feel squished between your toes?

We always need extra hands at Vintage, so we thought we’d offer a select group apprenticeships to answer all these questions and more.

Join Michael & I on Saturday 4 March from 12noon to 3.30pm.
